Day 6. Today we went to church! We had talked about waiting a week before taking them to something so new. But then I thought, if I am trusting in the Lord to do great things, I guess He can take care of any problem we might have at church. I am sure glad we went. Our church service was one of the best services I have ever had. The service was all about how children are a blessing. As the service started they prayed for all the children by name, including ours. The sermon was about children and it was great, I would really like to repeat the sermon when I get back home. The Lords Supper was given, and they did something I have never seen before. They traded their cup of juice with someone else before they drank it, in symbolism that we are brothers and sisters in Christ. Then new members were added to the church. The new members signed a contract in front of the church, I loved this idea. In the end the children were brought forward to the alter a second time to have the whole congregation pray for them. I almost forgot the best part, the kids went to children's church, it was so relaxing!!!!!! I am sure glad that we did not wait a week to go to church.
Hebrews 10:24 Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another and all the more as you see the day approaching.

  1. I'm so glad you went to church and that everyone had a good time. Remember that your kids aren't used to having 2 adults to play with all the time. They can entertain themselves part of the time without wearing out Tim's muscles or Tammy's head. Have fun and enjoy the Colombian culture while you're there (in between signing papers, meeting with officials, and waiting!) Penny

Glad to hear you went to church and the kids to Sunday School and everyone had a good time. Sounds like you have a great church to attend while you are in Columbia! You will probably have some more tough times but everything will calm down the more time the kids are with you and realize what a "family" really means and the two of you can definitely show them! Love to all!

  3. It makes you wonder how many times we miss a blessing because we are not where we are supposed to be. As always I appreciate your sensitivity to God and what He may be trying to do for you. Pastor Santiago and Paola were very helpful to us. A nice couple to reach out to.

    1. Pastor Santiago is very nice and the church is very welcoming. This Sunday Gerry did the sermon. One reason I loved the sermon was he talked slower and used a lot gestures I had an interpreter but was able to understand most of the sermon.

  4. We got an email from Gerry yesterday and he said he met you guys and talked to the kids. We are so jealous that we're not there in Colombia! I know it seems really difficult right now, but try to enjoy this time. It's such a unique experience to be able to spend several weeks in a foreign country. Your kids will become "Americanized" all too soon and this is a great way to learn more about their culture. You guys should go get some ice cream today at Crepes & Waffles!
